Privacy policy

What the app stores, and where

BurnRate stores what you type into it: your subscriptions (names, prices, billing cycles, renewal dates, categories, payment source labels, notes and decisions) and your settings. This data lives in the app's own storage on your device.

Payment source labels are names you choose, like "Personal card". BurnRate never asks for, stores, or connects to card numbers, account numbers, or online banking.

What we collect

Nothing. The app contains no analytics, no crash reporting, no advertising frameworks, and no third-party code that phones home. We cannot see your subscription list, and we do not want to.

Your purchase of the app is handled entirely by Apple under Apple's own privacy policy. Apple shows developers only aggregated, anonymous statistics, such as the number of downloads.

iCloud sync

If you are signed into iCloud, BurnRate syncs your data between your devices using Apple's CloudKit service, in the private database attached to your Apple Account. This is infrastructure Apple operates for you: the data there is accessible to your devices, not to the developer. If you are not signed into iCloud, BurnRate simply works locally.

Notifications

Renewal reminders, planned-cancellation nudges, and the monthly review reminder are local notifications, scheduled and delivered on your device. They are optional, controlled in the app's settings, and no notification data leaves your device.

Import and export

CSV files you import are read on your device. CSV files you export are written to the location you choose, and sharing them is entirely under your control. Neither operation sends anything to us.

Support email

If you email support@burnrate-app.uk, we receive whatever you choose to send, and we use it only to help you. You will not be added to any mailing list. Ask us to delete the correspondence at any time and we will.

This website

This site is a set of static pages. It sets no cookies, runs no analytics, and loads nothing from third-party servers. It is served by Cloudflare, which processes standard technical server logs (such as IP addresses of requests) to deliver and secure the site.

Deleting your data

• In the app: delete any subscription; it waits in Recently deleted for 30 days, then is gone for good. You can also remove it from Recently deleted immediately.
• The whole lot: delete the app to remove its data from that device. To remove synced data as well, delete BurnRate's data from your iCloud storage in your device's iCloud settings.

Changes to this policy

If BurnRate ever changes in a way that affects your privacy, this page will change with it, with a new effective date at the top. Given the design of the app, we do not expect much news here.
